By this point, we have established which permissions are in place and which are being sought. We now review the developing design against that position and clarify the outstanding requirements.

This work continues alongside design development. Existing approvals guide the proposals, while our drawings can support applications that are still being prepared.

Reviewing the agreed proposals

Working with our planning architect, or your own architect where appointed, we check how the glass extension relates to the approved or submitted drawings. Its size, height and appearance, together with relevant conditions, all need to be considered.

If the design has changed, the architect advises whether further action is needed. Where an application is still under consideration, we account for that in the programme rather than treating approval as confirmed.

Clarifying responsibilities

Planning permission and building regulations are separate matters. The project team also needs to establish the applicable building regulations process and who will provide the necessary technical information.

Any property restrictions or neighbouring-owner matters identified earlier are referred to the appropriate adviser. The requirements depend on the property, location and proposed work, so the advice must relate to your project.

Knowing what happens next

You should understand what has been approved, what remains outstanding and who is responsible for the next action. We explain how this affects the design and timing of the work.

This stage gives the technical team a clear basis for progressing the design without losing sight of the approval requirements.
