The Old Manor House
The renovation of a former manor house in Winchester breaths light into this long-forgotten property. The design of minimal glazing inside and out transforms this derelict building into a light contemporary space.
The original character of the building on the north west elevation remains largely unchanged. Adding a large single storey glass kitchen extension changes the dynamics of the property while sitting against the old fabric of the building.
Description
Clear structural glass beams support a solar controlled double-glazed frameless roof creating a kitchen that is cool in the summer and warm space in the winter. GlasSpace Infiniti Fineline hinged doors allow full use of the outside area taking advantage of the summer nights while blurring the boundaries between the inside and the outside space.
Glass balustrades and floating stairs create new finished structures that breaths new life into this former manor house blending old and new with timeless ease.
